Hi!
Welcome to the blog dedicated to singer songwriter, Jonathan O'Connor Moneley.
I'm from Blackrock in Co. Louth and music is my life! My mother is the person responsible for my great love for music. She has taken many different choirs over the past 30 years and currently is directing three. She is also a teacher of piano, flute, recorder, percussion, guitar and of course singing. I've been involved in many of my mothers projects such as the Dundalk Gospel Choir and also many different musicals she has directed.
I've been singing from a very early age, my first performance at the age of 5. I've also studied cello and musicianship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music from the age of 8 on. For my 11th birthday my grandmother gave me £30 and i spent that on a term of guitar lessons using one of my mothers guitars. In that term i learned all the basics of guitar playing.
I left the guitar after that and started playing bass. I quickly became really good at the bass but was never able to sing and play bass at the same time. I then went back to the guitar which i found i could play while singing. Not knowing any songs to play, i decided to write my own. Since then i have written more songs than i can remember.
Now I play alot of gigs in Dublin and Louth. In Dublin i play at the Zodiac Sessions in Bruxelles and in The Grand Central. In Dundalk Im the lead singer of a band called the Vibez and i play bass with them aswell. We play the pub scene in Dundalk.
